GBL appoints non-executive director

GBL appoints Dr Tim Davies as non-Executive Director. Tim is the Director of the Bioexpression and Fermentation Facility (BFF) at the University of Georgia, and a founder and partner in Downstream Biotech Consulting Inc. Tim's experience in fermentation and protein purification, together with the superb fermentation facilities at BFF, will be a great asset to the company.

BFF (www.uga.edu/bff) is a contract and core facility offering services in molecular biology, fermentation and protein purification.

Downstream Biotech Consulting Inc. offers consulting services in fermentation process development and optimization, protein purification, scale up and technology transfer.

GBL reveals the new company logo, designed by Abingdon-based company DNA. The logo represents the company's expertise in the genetic manipulation of high temperature microbial strains.

GBL acquires lab space

GBL acquires lab space

GBL acquires laboratory space at the Oxford BioBusiness Centre (www.biotechnet.co.uk). The centre provides accommodation and support for start-up and early-stage bioscience companies. Through provision of mixed laboratory, workshop and office space, the centre can house both diagnostic/instrumentation and software companies in addition to traditional wet biotechnology and chemical companies.

Technical facilities include centrifuge, instrument and process labs, a tissue culture suite, alarmed refrigeration room, a clean-up suite including autoclave and purified water, and a centralised service for waste management, information services and document supply. Extensive business support services are available through on-site Centre management and through the Oxfordshire BiotechNet mentoring network.
